The syllabus of Bujinkai Karate is designed to give students a good grounding in all of the key areas of Karate, including blocking, counter punching/kicking, body evasion, sweeps, throws, takedowns, joint locks, and vital point striking. Whilst the syllabus is heavily influenced by the traditional styles of Japanese & Okinawan Karate Jutsu, it also draws techniques and influence from many other indigenous fighting arts, including western boxing, Japanese and Chinese martial arts.

Our aim is to preserve the traditions of the past, whilst at the same time allowing our art to grow, in order that it can be effectively applied in modern day situations. Just as the masters of the past have constantly sought to improve and enhance their fighting systems, we too aim to keep an open mind regarding both our own style, and the techniques practiced by others, in order that we can strive to enhance our own syllabus. After all, a self defence situation on the streets of Great Britain in the 21st century may be different than that of 19th century Okinawa.

All techniques are taught using traditional Japanese terminology, and Japanese etiquette is adhered to whilst training in the dojo.
